Function of polyethylene wax in PVC products

It is difficult for paraffin to play a role in the application of PVC pipes. The dispersion effect is not good, and the PVC pipe profiles will be stained from the surface.
The PVC pipe profile produced by polyethylene wax (PE wax) will not have such a problem, because the softening point of polyethylene wax itself is high, and under high temperature conditions, polyethylene wax will only become liquid, with high viscosity and poor dispersion of polyethylene wax, but the brightness is very good. If the viscosity of polyethylene wax is low, the dispersion is very good and the brightness is OK.


Polyethylene wax has a very strong polar center and a long non-polar carbon chain. In the structure of polyethylene wax, the part compatible with plastic in polarity plays the role of internal lubrication, and the part incompatible with plastic in polarity plays the role of external lubrication and demoulding. The important application of polyethylene wax lies in the processing of PVC. Compared with fatty acid lubricants, polyethylene wax has no adverse effect on melt tension and Vicat softening point, and provides it with excellent anti adhesion and flow control. In special processing methods, PE wax can be used to control melting. Even if the amount is large, it can have good compatibility with other components.
Polyethylene wax is the only known plastic lubricant that can both internal and external lubrication (demoulding effect), maintain high transparency and have little effect on gelation. In addition, the low volatility of PE wax is very important for calendering and vacuum degassing.
As an internal lubricant, polyethylene wax has good compatibility with polymers. It plays a role in reducing the cohesion between polymer molecules in the polymer, so as to improve the internal friction heat generation and melt fluidity of plastic melt.
The function of polyethylene wax as external lubricant is mainly to improve the friction between polymer melt and hot metal surface of processing equipment. It has poor compatibility with polymers and is easy to migrate from the melt to the outside, so it can form a lubricating thin layer at the interface between plastic melt and metal.
