Masterbatch is a pigment concentrate with resin as the carrier. Pigments exist in three states: primary particles, aggregates and aggregates. The dispersion mechanism of raw materials is a process in which the agglomerate particles are broken into agglomerates and primary particles, and the newly generated particles are then stabilized.

The dispersion process of pigment in resin can be described by the following three steps: firstly, the resin melt wets the surface of pigment aggregates and penetrates into the internal pores; Secondly, the aggregate is broken under the impact and collision between the external shear force and pigment particles; Finally, the newly formed pigment particles are wetted and coated by the resin melt, which is stable without agglomeration. The resin melt has high viscosity and poor compatibility with the pigment surface, so it is poorly wetted and difficult to penetrate into the pores of the aggregate, so it cannot effectively transfer the shear force and is difficult to break the aggregate. Even after the cluster is broken, the resin melt can not quickly wet and protect the new surface, and the collision contact will cause the particles to re aggregate. To solve this problem, polyethylene wax can be added to the above system. During the processing of masterbatch system with polyethylene wax, polyethylene wax is first melted with resin and coated on the surface of pigment.
